Objectives of the Competent Toastmaster Speeches

These are the goals of each speech in the series leading to the competent Toastmaster Certificate:

    1. To learn the value of gestures and body movements
    2. To achieve a pleasing, natural voice quality while speaking


  5. Vocal Variety
    1. To explore the use of volume, pitch, rate and quality as assets in speaking
    2. To avoid lengthy words and jargon


  6. Work with Words
    1. Select precisely the right words to communicate your ideas
    2. To avoid lengthy words and jargon


  7. Apply your Skills
    1. To bring together and apply the skills learned in prior speeches
    2. To organize your speech in a logical manner


  8. Add Impact to your Speech
    1. To learn the value of props in speaking
    2. To learn how to use props effectively in your speaking


  9. Persuade with Power
    1. To present a talk that persuades the audience to accept your viewpoint or proposal


  10. Inspire your Audience
    1. To understand the mod and feelings of your audience on a particular occasion
    2. To put those feelings into words and inspire the audience using all you have learned
