Introduction
The educational goals of Toastmasters are two fold: Better speaking and Better
Leadership skills. There are excellent resources that describe both programs
located on the District 4 website (d4tm.org)
For New and Potential members, you will want to read about the basic speech
manual.
Evaluations
As part of learning to be better speakers, we learn to give and receive constructive
feedback. Learning to use this feedback process helps us learn to be better
communicators and leaders.
As part of our effort to grow our skills as constructive evaluators, the Silver
Tongued Cats have made evaluation forms available to our evaluators at all
meetings. This is a voluntary program that makes it easier for us to solicit
feedback regarding our evaluations and allows us to complete the feedback loop
for the entire speech process. If you have any questions about these forms
see the VP of Education (Louis Stone-Collonge until July 2005).
There are also several online articles that are excellent resources for our evaluators:
Evaluate to Motivate (d4tm.org resource)
A Step-by-Step Approach to Evaluation
(online resource from New Zealand club)
How to Provide Better Evaluations
(online resource from TM District 26)
When You Are An Evaluator

Table Topics
Table Topics are the perfect opportunity for us to practice our spontaneous
skill. Talking spontaneously is a very different skill than presenting a prepared
talk. Spontaneous speaking requires practice in the same way that most sports
require working out. Table topics is the chance to stretch those muscles and
build strength in your speaking.
