Our club is a successful club. We consistently have more than 20 attendees at
our meetings. This means members may concentrate on a single assigned task
rather than having to do double-duty.
Our club is mature. Approximately 1/2 the club has attained the level of
Competent Toast Master (CTM). This has two benefits for a new member. 1)
You will hear a wider variety of topics and styles from folks who are working on
advanced manuals. 2) You will have experienced evaluators to help improve your
speaking.
We meet early, but we overlap the commute hour. You can enjoy our meeting
while others sit in traffic - there are fewer cars on the road after 9:04 than
earlier.
We have our own meeting room. When you speak, you don't have to contend with
restaurant noise or other distractions. Speaking is hard enough for most folks,
why complicate the learning process.
We are a public club rather than a company club. This has several
advantages.
- We attract people of all ages with a wide range of
interests.
- The topics are not narrowly focused.
- When you speak, you don't have to feel that you are
competing with your working peers - or worse, worry about embarrassing
yourself in front of them.
After the meeting, we have a disorganized social hour at the Los Gatos Coffee
Roasting Company. Many folks enjoy this unstructured post mortem.
